I am a home baker with an eye for detail and an experimental streak. I will make anything once, including birthday surprises and my friends' requests, no matter the challenge. I have also branched into baking for theatrical shows that require fresh goods. In the 2024 summer, I made gluten free cupcakes for a wedding.
Take a look at what I've made previously and please reach out if you are interested in having a baked good for any future event!
The cupcakes were beautiful, but the ceremony was sweeter
A collection of vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes. The red velvet are decorated with dyed cream cheese frosting, while the others are decorated with dyed vanilla buttercream.
Order up, Clyde's waiting!
Crisp, bubbly focaccia flavored with rosemary and sea salt, made weekly for Theatrical Outfit's run of Clyde's by Lynn Nottage.
One of the few cakes that looks better if it's a bit messy
A white cake (no egg yolks!) with chunked Oreos incorporated into the batter, then decorated with vanilla buttercream and assorted Oreo pieces
For those who prefer their desserts less sweet
A blueberry cake layered with lemon buttercream and homemade blueberry jam. It is decorated with candied lemons and more homemade blueberry jam.
"I don’t know any other baker who can look at a concept photo and work tirelessly to bring it into reality with her own spin. I was a little worried that my birthday request for a lemon and blueberry cake would be too ambitious, but I knew when I was asked to guess how many lemons went into it that it was gonna be a cake to remember. Sarah’s cakes are always moist, but this one in particular struck a great texture balance with a perfect frosting to cake ratio. The flavor balance between sweet and tart was also perfect. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the gorgeous candied lemon garnish! All in all, this was just one of many Sarah Stein baking projects to land far above and beyond expectations!"
What do you mean it doesn't taste like candy?
Delicious challah bread with food dyes incorporated into each strand and woven together in a 6-stranded braid
One of my first attempts at French patisserie decoration
Chocolate and vanilla macaron shells with caramel and peanut butter fillings. They are decorated with streaks of either caramel or peanut butter, and macaron crumbles
How many apples do you think this needed?
Homemade applesauce layered onto a fluted pastry base. Thinly sliced applies were spiraled to create a rose effect in both standard and mini (5in) tins. Be careful if you make gluten-free pie dough, it bakes a little faster than its regular counterpart.
The secret ingredient is... potatoes
Fluffy and delicious cinnamon rolls! Do you need more of a description than that? A thin water icing could optionally be included for additional sweetness.
The Bake That Started It All
A chocolate cake, layered with vanilla buttercream and homemade raspberry jam. It is decorated with raspberry buttercream, fanned strawberries, raspberries, and homemade raspberry jam.
I made this for my dad's birthday in 2022. Making this cake for him and seeing his enjoyment led me to try more extravagant delights for my friends and family, getting me to where I am now!
